Food & Allergen Recall Checker

Search live FDA recall records by product, brand, or allergen. We show exactly what the FDA published — no scoring, no opinion.

Data is pulled live from the FDA Food Enforcement Reports (openFDA), the FDA's own public recall database. Updated weekly by FDA. This is not a complete list of every recall ever issued — always check fda.gov directly for the latest.

Frequently asked

Where does this recall data come from?
Directly from the FDA's openFDA Food Enforcement API, which mirrors the FDA's own Recall Enterprise System. We display the FDA's published fields (product, firm, reason, classification, date) without adding our own judgment.
How often is the recall data updated?
The FDA updates the underlying enforcement data weekly. This tool queries the live API on each search, so results reflect FDA's most recent weekly update.
What do Class I, II and III recalls mean?
FDA classifications: Class I = reasonable probability of serious health consequences or death; Class II = temporary or reversible health consequences are possible; Class III = unlikely to cause an adverse health reaction. These classifications are assigned by the FDA, not by this site.
If a product isn't listed here, is it safe?
No. This tool only returns recalls that match your search terms in FDA's database. A missing result can mean there's no recall, or that the product/firm name doesn't match the FDA's wording, or that the recall predates the API's coverage. Always check fda.gov directly if you have a specific safety concern.
Can I search by allergen instead of product name?
Yes. Selecting an allergen filters recalls whose FDA-published reason for recall mentions that allergen (e.g. "undeclared peanut"). This is a text match against FDA's own wording, not an inference we make.
